Step by step

How to fix it: Roku Remote Battery & Repair.

Each step takes seconds. No original remote, no pairing code, no account required.

  1. Set the broken remote aside

A dead battery or damaged remote is irrelevant to the app. Leave it out — you will not need to swap cells or fix contacts to regain control.

  2. Open the app on Wi-Fi

Launch Remote for Roku on the same network as the TV. It locates the Roku through an SSDP probe filtered for ST: roku:ecp.

  3. Connect instantly

Select your Roku. With zero-pairing ECP there is no battery-dependent handshake, so your iPhone becomes the remote on the spot.

  4. Power and navigate

Use POWER, the D-Pad, OK, HOME, BACK, VOL+, VOL-, and MUTE from the touchscreen. Your phone's own battery is the only one that matters now.

Common questions

Roku Remote Battery & Repair — your questions answered.

My Roku remote battery is corroded — can the app still control the TV?
Yes. Remote for Roku does not touch the hardware remote at all. It sends commands over Wi-Fi via ECP, so battery corrosion, leaks, or drained cells have no impact on control.
How long does Remote for Roku last compared to AA batteries?
It runs on your iPhone's battery, so there are no disposable cells to replace. Each keypress is a lightweight HTTP request on port 8060, which uses negligible power.
The remote only works when I press hard — is that a battery issue?
Intermittent presses usually mean worn battery contacts or button membranes. Rather than repair them, Remote for Roku gives you a clean, full button set on your iPhone with no physical wear.
