How to fix it: Control Multiple TVs.

Each step takes seconds. No original remote, no pairing code, no account required.

  1. Wake every Roku you want to find

    A Roku that is fully powered down does not answer a discovery broadcast. Turn on each TV or player once before the first scan so every device is awake and listening; after that they generally stay reachable in standby.

  2. Name each device by its room

    On each Roku open Settings, then System, then Device name and set something you will recognise — Living Room, Bedroom, Loft. The app displays whatever name the device reports, so this one-minute job is what makes a multi-device list usable.

  3. Scan once from a shared network

    Open Auxility Remote with your iPhone on the same network as the devices. The scan broadcasts across the local network and every Roku that answers appears in the list, each shown with the name you just set.

  4. Tap the room you want to control

    Select a device and the whole button set — D-Pad, OK, Home, Back, volume, transport keys — points at it immediately. No pairing means no per-device handshake and nothing to wait for.

  5. Switch rooms whenever you like

    Return to the device list and pick a different Roku. The app remembers your last choice between launches, so the TV you use most is already selected the next time you open it.

How one scan finds every Roku at once

Discovery is a broadcast, not a search through a list of known addresses. The app shouts a single query onto the local network and every Roku that hears it answers with its own address, which is why finding one device and finding six take about the same amount of time.

One physical Roku can answer that broadcast more than once, under several different identifiers. The app collapses replies by network address rather than by identifier, so a device that answers three times still appears once. Without that step a three-Roku household would show nine entries, most of them duplicates of each other.

Telling identical TVs apart

Two TCL Roku TVs bought at the same time report the same model and, until you intervene, a near-identical default name. The app can only display what each device tells it, so the fix lives on the Roku: Settings, then System, then Device name. Rename them once and the list becomes self-explanatory forever.

If a device still refuses to identify itself clearly, the address it reports is the tiebreaker — press a volume key and watch which room responds. It is inelegant, but it takes five seconds and settles the question permanently once you have renamed the device.

When several people control the same TVs

Nothing in the design limits control to one phone. Roku accepts commands from any device on the network without an exclusive session, so two people can each have the app open and both will work. The practical consequence is the obvious one: if two people press volume at once, the TV obeys both.

There is no locking, no "in use by" state and no queueing between phones. For a household that is usually the right behaviour — nobody has to hand over control — but it does mean the app cannot stop a sibling in another room from changing the channel.

Mixing device types on one network

The best case. Each answers discovery independently, each carries its own name, and volume and power land on the right panel because each TV owns its own speakers.
A mix of Roku TVs and streaming sticks
Both appear in the same list and switch identically. Expect the controls to differ: a stick has no volume of its own and no panel to power down, so those keys depend on the TV it is plugged into.
A Roku Ultra alongside older players
All appear together. The Ultra is the most likely of the group to accept a network power-on command; older players generally will not, so they need their TV or their own remote to wake.
A Roku on a wired connection
A device on Ethernet is discovered exactly like a wireless one, as long as the wired and wireless sides of your router are the same network rather than separated segments.

Can one iPhone control several Roku devices?
Yes, and there is no limit configured in the app. A single network scan finds every Roku that answers, and switching between them is one tap. Because Roku control involves no pairing, adding a fourth or fifth device costs no setup at all.
How do I tell two identical Roku TVs apart in the app?
Rename them on the devices themselves: Settings, then System, then Device name. The app shows whatever name each Roku reports, so "Living Room" and "Bedroom" appear as soon as you rescan. Until you do that, both will show the same factory default.
Is there a delay when I switch from one Roku to another?
No reconnection step exists to wait for. Selecting a different device re-points the button set immediately, because commands are addressed to a device rather than sent down a session that has to be established first.
Can I control all my Roku TVs at the same time?
No. The app targets one device at a time by design, so there is no way to mute or power down every TV in the house with one press. Each room needs its own selection.
Why does one of my Roku devices never show up in the list?
Three common causes: it is fully powered off and no longer answering, it sits on a guest or IoT network that blocks traffic between devices, or it is behind a second router. Wake it, move it onto the main network, or enter its address manually from Settings, Network, About on the device.
