LOST ROKU REMOTE

Lost Your Roku Remote? Your iPhone Is the Replacement.

A misplaced remote does not mean a dead TV. Remote for Roku finds your device on Wi-Fi and restores every button in seconds.

Works over Wi-Fi · no pairing · no original remote required

Step by step

How to fix it: Lost Roku Remote.

Each step takes seconds. No original remote, no pairing code, no account required.

  1. Join the same Wi-Fi

Connect your iPhone to the exact Wi-Fi network your Roku already uses. Control runs over the local network on port 8060, so both devices must share one router.

  2. Open Remote for Roku

Launch the app. It sends an SSDP discovery probe to 239.255.255.250 and lists every Roku that answers with ST: roku:ecp, usually in under three seconds.

  3. Tap your Roku to connect

Select your device from the list. Roku ECP needs no pairing code, so the on-screen D-Pad, OK, HOME, and BACK keys go live immediately.

  4. Control with the full D-Pad

Use the directional pad, VOL+, VOL-, MUTE, and POWER exactly as the lost hardware remote did. Nothing about the missing remote limits what you can press.

Common questions

Lost Roku Remote — your questions answered.

Can I use Remote for Roku if I have completely lost the original remote?
Yes. The app never needs the physical remote. As long as your Roku is powered on and joined to Wi-Fi, Remote for Roku discovers it over ECP and takes over every key, including OK, HOME, and BACK.
Do I need a pairing code to replace my lost remote?
No. Roku's External Control Protocol is zero-pairing. The app connects directly over your local network on port 8060, with no code to enter and no Bluetooth handshake.
What if my Roku was only ever set up with the lost remote?
Once a Roku is online it stays controllable over Wi-Fi, independent of the remote that configured it. Remote for Roku reaches it the same way the official app does, so a lost remote does not lock you out.
